PHILIP W. SHAW, JR. | ARCHITECT

Mr. Shaw has extensive experience in design, project management, contract document preparation and construction administration for projects ranging in sizes from very small to an excess of 15 million dollars. During this 45 years directing Shaw Design Group, P.A., office planning and structures has been a major portion of the practice.  Mr. Shaw has completed nearly 5,000,000 square feet of office area in over 100 projects in either new or renovated spaces.

After graduating from Georgia Tech in 1970, Mr. Shaw worked for architectural firms in Columbus, Mississippi and Brunswick Georgia. In 1974 Mr. Shaw began work as university architect for the University of Southern Mississippi.  After leaving that position in 1977, Mr. Shaw took over the practice of Shaw and Associates following the untimely death of his father and has continued to direct the firm since that time.  During his position as principal architect, Mr. Shaw has been project architect for a wide range of projects, and project types and has worked with an array of clients on the Coast and statewide, including the State of Mississippi, City of Gulfport, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, Mississippi Military Department, Hancock Bank, Mississippi Power Company, Entex, Harrison County School District, Mississippi State Port Authority and several other government agencies , as well as numerous private clients.  Mr. Shaw is also a Certified Asbestos Inspector and Management/Planner.

M. ALLISON ROUSE, AIA | ARCHITECT

Mrs. Rouse joined Shaw Design Group, P.A. in March 2014, and was previously employed at the firm from 2004 – 2006.  She is a fourth generation architect and great-granddaughter of the firm’s founder.

Following Hurricane Katrina and prior to returning to the firm, she relocated to Asheville, NC and worked as an intern architect and project manager for a mid-sized architecture firm for five years, where she had the opportunity to work with a variety of state, local and non-profit clients.  During her employment in NC, she specialized in educational and institutional projects, and was an instrumental member of the design team for a new 92,000 SF elementary school, in addition to a 7,000 SF adult day-care facility for a local non-profit organization.

Subsequent to Hurricane Katrina, one of Mrs. Rouse’s key accomplishments was aiding in the facilitation of recovery for the Harrison County School District, where she participated in a variety of tasks which included full damage investigations and assessments of each property in the school district.

MICHAEL ROUSE | CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

2003 | LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY,  Bachelor of Science:  Construction Management

Employed as a construction management consultant for Shaw Design Group, P.A., Mr. Rouse has maintained an active role since 2005 when he began preparing damage estimates for clients following Hurricane Katrina.  His responsibilities quickly evolved into performing additional construction services,
including the renovation of U.S. Congressman, Gene Taylor’s, district office located, at the time, in downtown Gulfport.

Prior to Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Rouse, was employed with W.C. Fore Trucking, Inc. where he was involved in a variety of marine construction projects including an expansion project at the Port of Gulfport and the Biloxi Schooner Pier.  In addition, he was tasked with securing permits for dirt mines and concrete plants.

Mr. Rouse has over 10 years experience in site and road construction where he has performed project management and estimating services for several civil, utilities and asphalt contractors in the South MS and Western NC area.

YVETTE RHODES | OFFFICE MANAGER

Ms. Rhodes has been with Shaw Design Group, P.A. for twenty-one years and is responsible for the coordination and production for correspondence, specifications, proposals and submittals.  Additionally, she is in charge of the distribution and collection of construction documents during the bidding and construction phases of the projects.
